Kapetanakis was born in Chania, Crete, Greece, in 1984. He holds a BSc degree in Electronic Engineering and an MSc in Telecommunication &amp; Automation Systems from the Department of Electronic Engineering of the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU), and a Ph.D. from the Department of Informatics &amp; Telecommunications of the University of Peloponnese. He is currently an adjunct lecturer at the Department of Electronic Engineering of HMU and a researcher at the Telecommunications &amp; Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory of the same department. He has published several papers in international peer-review journals and conferences. He is a reviewer in IEEE and Springer journals.
